Introduction to the Lean Green Belt Course

The Lean Green Belt course is a 6-day online program designed to provide a solid grounding in the theory and practice of Lean. The course is aimed at managers, supervisors, and team leaders in the food and drink industry who are interested in learning how to drive improvements in their organizations.

Day 1

  • Introduction to Lean Supply Chain Management thinking
  • Explanation of the idea of an organization as a system
  • Introduction to Likers 4P model and the 5 Lean Principles
  • Discussion of the 8 wastes

Day 2

  • Introduction to the need for staff engagement and dealing with change
  • Explanation of the role of Lean leaders
  • Introduction to the seven quality tools and practice using them
  • Discussion of other diagnostic tools

Day 3

  • Introduction to Cellular Operations, Poka-Yoke, and TPM
  • Explanation of standard work and visual management
  • Introduction to a layout improvement method called 5S
  • Discussion of Kanban, JIT, flow in practice, and SMED

Day 4

  • Explanation of how VSM is used and practice using VSM in a process

Day 5

  • Embedding the practice of continuous improvement – Kaizen
  • Discussion of JDI, PDCA, and DMAIC
  • Introduction to the methodology of six sigma
  • Development of a personal Lean roadmap

Day 6

  • Revision of the whole course
  • Exam practice
  • End-of-course examination
