Documentary Film Program

The Documentary Film Program is a part of Wake Forest University, a private liberal arts university founded in 1834. The program is associated with the university's faculty, including Professor Sandy Dickson and Teaching Professor Cara Pilson, who have worked together on films for over twenty years.

Films and Awards

The program's faculty have produced several award-winning films, including:

• The Last Flight of Petr Ginz: a documentary that combines animation, art, and live action to tell the story of Petr Ginz, a young boy who wrote five novels and penned a diary about the Nazi occupation of Prague.
• Negroes with Guns: Rob Williams and Black Power: a documentary that tells the story of civil rights leader Rob Williams, who urged African Americans to arm themselves against violent racists.
• Freedom Never Dies: The Legacy of Harry T. Moore: a documentary that explores the life and times of Harry T. Moore, a distinguished school teacher who was assassinated in 1951.

These films have received numerous awards and recognition, including:
