Program Overview

Course Overview

The Corso di Formazione Permanente Traiettorie tecnologiche per batterie nella green mobility is a course designed to provide fundamental information for designing battery packs and electrochemical accumulators based on lithium and other technologies. The course focuses on electric mobility, with particular attention to the automotive world, and is part of the "Lifelong Learning Initiatives" catalog of the PNRR Ecosistema dell'Innovazione "NODES - Nord Ovest Digitale E Sostenibile" project.

Objectives

The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and develop battery packs and electrochemical accumulators for electric mobility applications. The course covers topics such as:

  • Fundamentals of electrochemistry
  • Techniques for realizing electrochemical cells
  • Battery management systems
  • Thermal management systems
  • Safety and reliability aspects
  • Life cycle assessment and carbon footprint analysis

Target Audience

The course is open to a maximum of 20 students and is targeted towards specialists in the design of products and technologies for electric mobility, as well as those who require in-depth knowledge of battery systems and their applications. The course is suitable for engineering studios and companies of all sizes in the automotive, railway, naval, energy, and industrial vehicle production sectors.

Calendar

The course will take place from January to February 2025, with the following schedule: | Date | Time | Topics | | --- | --- | --- | | 13/01/2025 | 14:30 - 16:30 | Introduction | | 17/01/2025 | 09:30 - 13:30, 14:30 - 18:30 | Basic chemistry, Anode and Cathode chemistry | | 24/01/2025 | 09:30 - 13:30, 14:30 - 18:30 | Cell realization processes, Storage and characteristics of cells for traction and stationary applications | | 31/01/2025 | 09:30 - 13:30, 14:30 - 18:30 | Recycling and post-lithium, From cell to pack | | 07/02/2025 | 09:30 - 13:30, 14:30 - 18:30 | Thermal models and thermal runaway, Assembly and welding solutions | | 14/02/2025 | 09:30 - 13:30, 14:30 - 18:30 | Recharge and sizing, Thermal sizing and housing | | 21/02/2025 | 09:30 - 13:30, 14:30 - 18:30 | Testing and cabling, Integration of battery models and vehicle dynamics | | 28/02/2025 | 10:00 - 12:00, 14:30 - 18:30 | Life cycle assessment and recycling |
