Overview
The Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging) is an undergraduate program designed to prepare graduates for a career in medical imaging. The program focuses on the development of professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for graduates to gain professional accreditation in the specialist field of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging).
Program Structure
The program is four years in duration, with a total of 144 units of study required to satisfy the award requirements. The first two years of the program focus on the basic sciences that underpin the study and practice of medical radiation science. The third year focuses on the development of professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes using an integrated approach, with on-campus learning preceding clinical practice. The final year includes periods of consolidated clinical practice and pre-clinical workshops, with a focus on the development of skills in preparation for transition to practice as a medical imaging professional.
Admission Criteria
Applicants are required to meet one of the following criteria with a competitive result, and demonstrate that they fulfill any prerequisite requirements and essential requirements for admission:
- Recent secondary education: Meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent, and qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), or complete secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE, or complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points.
- Higher education study: Complete or partially complete a recognized higher education program at Bachelor or higher level, or complete a Diploma level program at a recognized higher education institution.
- Vocational Education and Training (VET): Complete an award from a registered training organization at Advanced Diploma level or above.
- Work and life experience: Qualify for Special Entry, or complete a 12-month UniSA Foundation Studies program or equivalent, or hold completed secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE obtained more than 2 years in the past.
