Program Overview


Bachelor of Design (Product Design)

The Bachelor of Design (Product Design) degree qualifies individuals to undertake professional work as industrial designers. The program provides individuals with the broad and coherent body of knowledge and skills relevant to the design, creation, and use of the thousands of products and systems that people use every day.


Aim

The aim of the Bachelor of Design (Product Design) degree is to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to play a key role in determining how new artifacts, services, and systems are developed, the materials and technologies used, and environmental sustainability.


Content and Structure

Graduates of a Bachelor of Design (Product Design) degree will have a broad and coherent body of knowledge of the aesthetics, function, usability, and cultural significance of physical and virtual products. The program comprises 108 units of study, including:


  • 9 units of design, culture, and society
  • 54 units of studio and practice
  • 36 units of major in product design
  • 9 units of electives

Admission Criteria

Applicants are required to meet one of the following criteria with a competitive result, and demonstrate that they fulfill any prerequisite requirements and essential requirements for admission:


  • Recent secondary education
  • Higher education study
  • Vocational Education and Training (VET)
  • Work and life experience

English Language Entry Requirements

International students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last two years prior to admission:


  • IELTS total: 6.0
  • IELTS reading: 6.0
  • IELTS writing: 6.0

Fees

The tuition fee for the Bachelor of Design (Product Design) degree is AUD$ 35,600 per annum (per 1.0 EFTSL) for students enrolled in 2025.
