Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Exercise)
Overview
The Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Exercise) is an undergraduate program designed to prepare students with knowledge of exercise and nutrition as a foundation to healthy active lifestyles. The program aims to promote positive health outcomes and provide a foundation for careers in a range of fields and settings that are actively engaged in the promotion of health at individual, corporate, and community levels.
Admission Criteria
The admission criteria for this program are as follows:
- Higher Education Study: Successfully completed equivalent to a minimum of half a year of full-time study of a higher education program at a recognised higher education provider.
- Vocational Education and Training (VET): Complete an award from a registered training organisation at Certificate IV or above.
- Work and Life Experience: Passed a literacy and numeracy test and have relevant work experience, or completed a 12-month Foundation Studies program or equivalent, or qualify for Special Entry.
- Recent Secondary Education: Completed a secondary education qualification equivalent to SACE, such as an interstate year 12 or international qualification.

Program Structure
The program is structured over three years, with each year building on the knowledge and skills acquired in the previous year. The first year develops foundational knowledge in biology, health across the lifespan, physical activity, and nutrition, and introduces students to health promotion. In the second year, students undertake studies in biochemistry and physiology with a focus on nutrition and exercise. The final year of the program focuses on the transition to employment, with courses in food quality and regulation, professional communication, and psychology, culminating in a capstone course that fosters further skills in developing projects in nutrition and exercise.
