Program Overview
Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot)
Overview
The Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot) is a three-year undergraduate program designed to prepare graduates for a career as a professional pilot. The program is offered in conjunction with the Graduate Diploma in Aviation, which provides flight training.
Program Structure
The program requires completion of 108 units, including a common first year that introduces students to the aviation industry, aviation management, practice, safety, and human performance. In the second year, students undertake more advanced and theoretical studies, including preparation for CASA Commercial Pilot Licence theory examinations. In the final year, students receive aeronautical knowledge at a professional pilot level, including large aircraft operations and safety management systems.

Admission Criteria
The admission criteria include:
- Recent secondary education: Meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent, and qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with a competitive Selection Rank (ATAR).
- Higher education study: Complete or partly complete a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution.
- Vocational Education and Training (VET): Complete an award from a registered training organisation at Certificate IV or above.
- Work and life experience: Qualify for Special Entry, complete a 12-month UniSA Foundation Studies program or equivalent, or hold completed secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE obtained more than 2 years in the past.

Rules and Notes
- Students are required to progress through the Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot) program in accordance with their Program Director's advice.
- Other elective options not listed here may only be taken with Program Director approval.
- Students must attend 80% of their scheduled workshops to be considered for entry into the Graduate Diploma in Aviation.
- This course should be completed in the study period preceding the commencement of the Graduate Diploma in Aviation.
- Enrolment in this course is limited to one attempt only.
- Credit will not be granted for the course Commercial Pilot Theory (AERO 2064) for students concurrently enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Aviation.
- Students must attend 80% of their scheduled workshops to be eligible to remain in the Graduate Diploma in Aviation.
- This course is delivered in intensive mode.
- Students commencing with mid-year enrolment who intend to undertake Flight Training through the Graduate Diploma in Aviation will need to undertake an elective instead of AERO 1021 in the first year and enrol in AERO 1021 in the second year.
