Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical)
The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical) program is designed to develop professional mechanical engineers who are well-prepared to work in diverse, interdisciplinary teams to solve complex problems in a socially and culturally appropriate manner.

The program uses an industry-focused, project-based teaching and learning approach to achieve its aim.
Content & Structure
This program requires completion of courses totaling 144 units and comprises a common first year across all Engineering disciplines. The first two years of the program lay the foundation of mathematics, materials, mechanics, computing, engineering graphics, fluids, thermodynamics, and mechanical design principles. In the third year of study, students will concentrate on a set of discipline core courses and a range of specialist electives from their chosen application area, including mechanical design, energy systems, engineering management, business innovation, as well as ship design.

Rules & Notes
- Engineers Australia (EA) requires students to achieve at least 450 hours/60 days full-time equivalent (FTE) of discipline and/or industry-related skills and competencies prior to graduation.
- Upon completion of the UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program (PPP), students will be invited to enroll in a course and complete the required assessment.
- At least one of the Discipline Elective courses students enroll in during the final year must have a catalogue number starting with 4 (e.g., MENG 4XXX) or 5 (e.g., MFET 5XXX).
Professional Accreditation and Recognition
This program is professionally accredited by Engineers Australia and is designed to meet the requirements for graduate membership of Engineers Australia and comparable international institutions.

Admission Criteria
The admission criteria have been grouped to assist students in easily finding the information most relevant to their circumstances. However, students may fit into more than one, and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.
Entry Requirements
- Recent secondary education: Meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent.
- Higher education study: Complete or partly complete a recognized higher education program at a recognized higher education institution.
- Vocational Education and Training (VET): Complete an award from a registered training organization at Certificate IV or above.
- Work and life experience: Qualify for Special Entry, or complete a 12-month UniSA Foundation Studies program or equivalent.
English Language Entry Requirements
In addition to meeting academic entry requirements, international students who speak English as a second or additional language must also meet the University's English language entry requirements. The minimum language requirements for this program are:
- IELTS total: 6.0
- IELTS reading: 6.0
- IELTS writing: 6.0
Tuition Fees
The tuition fee for this program is AUD $42,000 per annum (per 1.0 EFTSL) for students enrolled in 2025.
