Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical and Mechatronic)
The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical and Mechatronic) program is designed to develop professional mechanical and mechatronic engineers who are well-prepared to work in diverse, interdisciplinary teams to solve complex problems in a socially and culturally appropriate manner.
Aim
The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive education in mechanical and mechatronic engineering, with a focus on industry-focused, project-based teaching and learning approaches.
Content and Structure
The program requires completion of courses totaling 144 units and comprises a common first year across all engineering disciplines. The first two years of the program lay the foundation of mathematics, materials, mechanics, computing, engineering graphics, fluids, thermodynamics, and mechanical design principles. In the third year of study, students will concentrate on mechatronic systems and their mechanisms, as well as a set of mechanical discipline core courses.

Rules and Notes
- Engineers Australia (EA) requires students to achieve at least 450 hours/60 days full-time equivalent (FTE) of discipline and/or industry-related skills and competencies prior to graduation.
- Upon completion of the UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program (PPP), students will be invited to enroll in a course and complete the required assessment for the course.
- Students must complete at least 36 units with honors level outcomes.
Professional Accreditation and Recognition
The program is professionally accredited by Engineers Australia and is designed to meet the requirements for graduate membership of Engineers Australia and comparable international institutions.

Admission Criteria
The admission criteria have been grouped to assist applicants in easily finding the information most relevant to their circumstances. However, applicants may fit into more than one category, and the university will consider applicants against each of the relevant criteria.
Recent Secondary Education
Applicants must meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent and:
- Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and achieve a competitive Selection Rank (ATAR)
- Complete secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE
- Complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points
Higher Education Study
Applicants must complete or partly complete a recognized higher education program at a recognized higher education institution or complete at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at undergraduate level or above.
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Applicants must complete an award from a registered training organization at Certificate IV or above.
Work and Life Experience
Applicants must qualify for Special Entry, complete a 12-month UniSA Foundation Studies program or equivalent, or hold completed secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE obtained more than 2 years in the past.

English Language Entry Requirements
In addition to meeting academic entry requirements, international students who speak English as a second or additional language must also meet the University's English language entry requirements. The minimum language requirements for this program are:
- IELTS total: 6.0
- IELTS reading: 6.0
- IELTS writing: 6.0
Fees
The tuition fee for this program is AUD $42,000 per annum (per 1.0 EFTSL) for students enrolled in 2025.
