Course Aim
The course aims to introduce students to the selection and use of materials and components in modern construction.
Course Content
The course covers factors affecting the selection of construction materials, including functions, performance, aesthetics, economic, and environmental factors. It also explores the scientific properties of construction materials, including physical, mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties. Additionally, the course delves into commonly used primary and secondary construction materials and products, such as concrete, steel, wood, masonry materials, finishes, and waterproofing materials. The life cycle of construction materials and products and their sustainable use in construction are also discussed.
