Curriculum

The OSU Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology's PhD program is highly research-oriented, giving students advanced research training, and is designed to enhance a student's critical thinking, scientific communication and leadership skills.

• Biochemistry and Molecular Biology doctoral candidates take a minimum of 30 credit hours of advanced graduate coursework and hands-on workshops, and a maximum of 60 credit hours of independent research for a total of 90 credit hours.
• The course requirements are determined with the assistance and approval of the student's advisory committee, and can be tailored to the student's career goals.

Cost and Assistance

All students accepted into the department's PhD program are supported by competitive graduate research or teaching assistantships. Assistantships come with a full waiver of tuition, and a generous University supplement for health insurance.
