Introduction to the Undergraduate Summer Study Tour Program
The School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information has established a short-term study visit cooperation program with Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. This program aims to improve the talent education quality and expand the international vision of the students in this School.
Program Overview
Newcastle University, located in Newcastle, England, is a public research university with strong programs in science, engineering, and law. The university is a member of the Red Brick Universities. The program is designed for students in the electromechanical disciplines and will focus on software engineering and Python programming, including artificial intelligence. The course will adopt an active learning, problem-based approach, providing students with a good foundation for future careers in related professional fields.
Program Details
- Duration: The estimated duration of the program is from July 10, 2025, to July 21, 2025.
- Financial Support: The School will provide special funds to support the program, including tuition fees for the study tour (RMB 32,000 Yuan), round-trip international air tickets, accommodation fees, foreign car fares, visa fees, etc.
- Financial Support Criteria:
- Category I: RMB 35,000 Yuan
- Category II: RMB 30,000 Yuan
- Category III: RMB 25,000 Yuan
Selection Requirements
The selection will be based on the following basic conditions:
- Good political quality, upholding the four cardinal principles, loving the socialist motherland, and no illegal and disciplinary records.
- Excellent academic performance with an average score of at least 80, or a GPA of at least 3.0, and no failed courses during the study period.
- Meeting the language requirements for study in the country or institution of study, and having strong listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in foreign languages.
- Being mentally active, having a sense of pioneering and innovation, and the postgraduates shall also have a certain level of academic excellence.
- Being physically and mentally healthy and able to successfully complete the mission of visiting and studying abroad.
- Having paid all the fees formulated by the university.
- Having not received similar financial support during his or her study at the university.
- Under the same conditions, priority will be given to the students from economically disadvantaged families.
Program Application
Applicants shall fill in the "Record Form for Students' Exchange Abroad (Overseas) of School of Mechanical Engineering and Electronic Information" and send the electronic PDF version for registration. Applicants are requested to prepare their personal passports in advance.
Certificate and Credits
All students participating in the program will receive a certificate of study tour from Newcastle University in the UK, and the School can recognize 2 credits of elective courses based on this.
Important Notes
Students participating in this program, who have been selected and identified as candidates by the School, are not allowed to withdraw from the program privately.
