Program Overview

The Earth Physics program, also known as the Earth Science Elite Class, aims to cultivate students with a strong foundation in Earth sciences and systematic knowledge of Earth physics. The program seeks to develop high-quality talents who can engage in Earth physics observations and basic research.


Program Objectives

The program objectives are to:


  • Equip students with good ideological and moral character, Earth science foundation, and systematic Earth physics professional knowledge.
  • Enhance students' innovation, entrepreneurship, organization, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Improve students' ability to compete in the job market and start their own businesses.

Program Requirements

The program requires students to:


  1. Foundation Knowledge: Master basic theories and knowledge in mathematics, physics, geology, information science, and Earth physics.
  2. Problem Analysis: Master basic theories and methods of Earth physics, including seismology, gravity, geomagnetism, and geoelectrics, and apply them to analyze and solve problems.
  3. Design/Development Solutions: Design and develop solutions to professional problems, demonstrating innovation and considering social, health, safety, legal, cultural, and environmental factors.
  4. Research: Conduct research on related problems, using principles, technologies, and methods to obtain reasonable and effective conclusions.
  5. Modern Tools: Choose and use appropriate modern technical tools to predict and simulate problems, understanding their limitations.
  6. Professional and Social: Analyze the impact of problem-solving schemes on society, environment, health, safety, law, culture, and sustainable development, and understand the responsibilities involved.
  7. Professional Norms: Possess the professional ethics and norms required in the field.
  8. Personal and Team: Play individual, team member, and leader roles in a multidisciplinary team.
  9. Management and Communication: Understand and master management and decision-making methods, communicate effectively with peers and the public, and possess international vision and cross-cultural communication skills.
  10. Lifelong Learning: Have a consciousness of self-study and lifelong learning, with the ability to learn and adapt continuously.
