Doctoral Program in Biology, Geography and Geology (BGG)
The doctoral program in biology, geography and geology (BGG) is a multidisciplinary doctoral program that supports the training of doctoral researchers to become scientific experts in their field.
Research themes
- Biology and Environmental Science: Research covers cellular and molecular biology, physiology and genetics to biodiversity research, individual species as well as interactions between species and evolutionary phenomena at the population and organismal community level. In addition to humans and other animals, plants and microbes and their environments are being studied.
- Biodiversity research: The effects of climate change on the biodiversity of northern nature, the diversity of different groups of organisms and the problems threatening the Archipelago Sea are examples of biodiversity research topics.
- Geography and Geology: Research is focused on the Earth and its dynamic processes, wide-ranging and interdisciplinary. The research themes vary from the evolution of the earth's crust to sedimentology and historical environmental changes as well as innovation environments and urban structures.
