Turku Clinical Doctoral Program (TKT)
The Turku Clinical Doctoral Program (TKT) promotes high-quality clinical research and supports doctoral education in clinical medicine and related disciplines, as well as research that focuses on the origin, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, including translational and service systems research.
Research topics
- Cardiovascular and metabolic diseases
- for example, LASERI and STRIP, the top research unit of the Turku PET Center, clinical cardiology
- Pediatric research
- infections, immunology, NAMI, DIPP and Teddy projects
- Neurosciences and psychiatry
- for example Turku Brain and Mind Center and FinnBrain
- Orthopedic examination
- clinical Orthopedics and biomaterials
- Oncology
- molecular mechanisms and diagnostic biomarkers of sy—vð growth and spread
- clinical core research
- Medical imaging and diagnostics with applications
- Research and development of social and health service systems
- In addition, e.g.:
- epidemiology, public health science, clinical allergology and immunology, reproductive medicine, health economics
Education
The clinical doctoral program in Turku develops the expertise and know-how of senior researchers in the following areas:
- Knowing the causes of diseases, preventing diseases and alleviating their consequences
- Knowledge and development of disease diagnostics and treatments
- Understanding clinical research results and their critical application
- Special features of clinical research, uses and research ethics questions
- Examining the development, operation and effectiveness of the treatment system
