Program Overview
Project Management Training Program
The University of Oulu offers a unique 25-credit training program in project management, which covers key areas of project management, leadership of project-oriented companies, management of change projects and programs, and practical project management exercises.
Enrollment Period
The enrollment period for the program is from April 1, 2025, to August 31, 2025.
Mode of Delivery
The program is delivered through web-based studies.
Study Module
The study module consists of five courses in project management, focusing on areas such as project management fundamentals, management in project-oriented companies, management of change projects and programs, and practical project management exercises.
Courses
The program consists of the following courses:
- Project management, 5 ECTS
- Advanced Course in Project Management, 5 ECTS
- Management of a project-based firm, 5 ECTS
- Change Project and Programme Management, 5 ECTS
- Capstone project: project management in different industries, 5 ECTS
Education Format
The program follows a continuous learning format, with a focus on continuing training.

The field of study is Engineering and Technology, with a discipline in Industrial Engineering and Management.
Teaching Language
The teaching language is English, with some courses also offered in Finnish.

Prerequisites and Co-requisites
The minimum qualifications required are a bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience.
Course Learning Outcome
After completing the study module, students will be able to:
- Plan and analyze the implementation of various projects
- Identify and solve related production and economic problems
- Analyze and improve processes, practices, and business operations of project-oriented organizations
- Generate justified, innovative, and sustainable development proposals and solutions
- Apply strategic thinking in the planning, management, and development of projects and project-oriented organizations
- Utilize projects for product development, business improvement, and implementation
Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
The courses are conducted primarily as online distance learning, using the Moodle learning platform. The courses include self-study, multiple-choice exercises, online lectures, group work, business cases, and practical assignments.
Target Group
The program is designed for those interested in project management and improving their project skills, with a minimum of a bachelor's degree and two years of work experience required.
Assessment
Courses are evaluated on a scale of 0-5.

Price
The price of the training program is 250, including all courses.
