Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) / Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) / Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is a unique combination of cutting-edge research and comprehensive business skills. This program is designed to prepare students for leadership roles in industry, not-for-profit organizations, and government.


Program Overview

The PhD component involves a time-based research project, where students will undertake supervised research culminating in the submission of their thesis. The MBA component contains 12 core topics, and students can choose an industry placement or entrepreneurship program instead of one core topic.

The program is available in two duration options: 4 years and 5 years. The delivery mode is in-person and online, with full-time and part-time availability.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this PhD-MBA program, students must meet the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) component. The entry requirements include:


  • A Bachelors degree with Honours class 1 or 2A
  • A Doctor of Medicine with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5
  • A Graduate Diploma or Masters degree by coursework with a research component of at least 18 units, with an average GPA of at least 6 in the research component
  • A Masters by Research degree
