Program Details
The program "Tiedon k‰sittely, hallinta ja etiikka oppimisanalytiikassa" is a 5-credit course offered in the summer of 2024.
Course Description
The course provides an introduction to the ethical principles, applications, and actors in learning analytics, as well as practices and design principles. Students will learn to examine learning analytics applications from an ethical perspective, identify potential problems, and weigh the benefits and drawbacks of learning analytics in the context of education and society.
Course Objectives
Upon completing the course, students will be able to:
- Understand the ethical and legal aspects of learning analytics
- Examine learning analytics applications from an ethical perspective
- Weigh the benefits and drawbacks of learning analytics
- Apply ethical principles to the design of learning analytics
Course Format
The course consists of 24 hours of lectures and guided work, as well as 110 hours of independent and group work, totaling 134 hours.
Target Audience
The course is intended for students in the Faculty of Education and Psychology, as well as students of the Open University.
Course Materials
The course materials include a textbook and current scientific articles, which will be announced at the beginning of the course.
Assessment
The course assessment is based on participation in online teaching, completion of learning analytics tasks, and sharing of results. The achievement of learning objectives will be evaluated based on the student's produced material, tasks, and/or portfolio.
