2024 Equine Castration Clinic
The 2024 Fall Equine Castration Clinic will be held on October 17-18. The clinic will provide equine castration services, including:
- Equid Castration
- Wolf Teeth Extraction (optional)
Patient Eligibility
To be eligible for the clinic, patients must meet the following criteria:
- Horses, Donkeys, and Mules
- Ages: 1 month - 15 years
- Must be halter broken to safely lead on a halter
- Registration is limited to three equids per owner
- Both testicles must be visibly descended
- Negative EIA (Coggins): Within the last six months at the time of appointment
- Patients must be healthy and not show signs of infectious disease
Services Included
Patients will receive:
- Tetanus prophylaxis
- Antibiotic injection
- Appropriate anesthesia and analgesia during and after the procedure
Important Notes
Please note that any complications resulting from the inherent risk of castration will be at the owner's expense. Castrations will be performed by third-year veterinary students under the supervision of licensed equine veterinarians.
