Program Overview
Program Overview
The Cognitive Systems Lab offers a variety of courses and research opportunities in the field of cognitive systems. The lab is led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tanja Schultz and is part of the University of Bremen.
Courses
The lab offers several courses, including:
- Advanced Machine Learning
- Automatische Spracherkennung (Automatic Speech Recognition)
- Ausgew‰hlte Probleme kognitiver Systeme (Selected Problems of Cognitive Systems)
- Biosignale und Benutzerschnittstellen (Biosignals and User Interfaces)
- Blockkurs: Gehirn-Muster-Erkennung (Block Course: Brain Pattern Recognition)
- Grundlagen des Maschinellen Lernens (Fundamentals of Machine Learning)
- Seminar Bremen Big Data Challenge
Seminar Bremen Big Data Challenge
Content
The seminar deals with the Big Data task of the current Bremen Big Data Challenge (BBDC). Participants present their solution to the task in a six-page paper and a presentation.
Goals
Participants, supported by a supervisor, work independently on a solution to the current Bremen Big Data Challenge. They learn and deepen their knowledge of data analysis and machine learning using a practical example. Students learn to summarize their approach and results in a scientific format and present them.
Language
The primary language is German. English papers and presentations are also possible and welcome.
Module Code
The course is listed in the handbook and in Studip with the code 03-BE-711.98d. Credits are possible in the Bachelor and Master programs.
Research Areas
The lab's research areas include:
- BiosignalsLab
- Lautlose Sprachkommunikation (Silent Speech Communication)
- Kognitive Adaptive Interaktionssysteme (Cognitive Adaptive Interaction Systems)
- Systeme f¸r Menschen mit Demenz (Systems for People with Dementia)
- Gehirnaktivit‰tsmodellierung (Brain Activity Modeling)
- Automatische Spracherkennung (Automatic Speech Recognition)
- Aktivit‰tserkennung (Activity Recognition)
- sensORder: Artefaktklassifizierung w‰hrend der Biosignalerfassung (Sensor Order: Artifact Classification during Biosignal Recording)
- Gestenerkennung (Gesture Recognition)
- Sprachkommunikation aus neuronalen Daten (Speech Communication from Neural Data)
Publications
The lab publishes its research in various formats, including books, journals, conference papers, doctoral theses, and final papers.
