Bachelor of Information Systems/Bachelor of Laws (2800)
Overview
The Bachelor of Information Systems/Bachelor of Laws is a combined program that enables students to develop skills in two diverse career paths: information systems and law. This program provides increased marketability to multiple areas of expertise.
Admission
- Assumed Knowledge: HSC Mathematics and any two units of HSC English.
- Applications from Australian and New Zealand citizens and holders of permanent resident visas may be made via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) or directly through the Western Portal.
Structure
Qualification for the double Bachelors degree in Information Systems / Law requires the successful completion of 400 credit points consisting of the subjects listed in the recommended sequence.
- 160 credit points of specified Law core subjects
- 80 credit points of subjects chosen from the pool of Bachelor of Laws Alternate Subjects
- 160 credit points of specified Information Systems subjects
Early Exit
Students are eligible to graduate in the Bachelor of Information Systems on completion of the 16 specified information systems subjects plus the eight law subjects specified in the table below in lieu of program 3687 Bachelor of Information Systems electives and / or 'Major'.
Recommended Sequence
The recommended sequence for full-time start-year intake and full-time mid-year intake is provided.
LLB Alternate Subjects
Students must complete 80 credit points of subjects from the list of Bachelor of Laws alternate subjects.
Equivalent Subjects
The equivalent subjects listed below count toward completion of this program for students who passed these subjects in 2019 or earlier.
Replaced Subjects
The subjects listed below count towards completion of this program for students who passed these subjects in 2021 or earlier.
Discontinued Subjects
The subjects listed below count towards completion of this program for students who passed the subject in 2024 or earlier.
Accreditation
Graduates from this program are eligible to apply to the Legal Profession Admission Board for admission to legal practice in NSW after undertaking prescribed practical legal training. The Bachelor of Information Systems is accredited with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) at Professional Level.

Western Sydney University seeks to enhance student learning experiences by enabling students to engage in the culture, expectations and practices of their profession or discipline. This program includes a placement or other community-based unpaid practical experience.
