Program Overview

Introduction to the Bremer Kinder-Uni

The Bremer Kinder-Uni is a unique program designed for children to explore and understand the world of science and research. Since its inception 20 years ago, the program has been providing children with the opportunity to experience firsthand the excitement of scientific discovery.

Program Details

The next Bremer Kinder-Uni will take place from March 17 to 26, 2026. The program offers a variety of activities, including:

  • Vorlesungen (Lectures): These will be held from March 17 to 19, 2026, in the morning. Researchers from the University of Bremen will present engaging scientific topics to entire classes of students from the 3rd to 6th grade. Please note that some lectures may have age recommendations due to the themes discussed.
  • Entdeckungstouren (Discovery Tours): Although these are already fully booked, they were scheduled to take place from March 17 to 19, 2026, in the morning. The tours provide school classes with the opportunity to explore behind the scenes of laboratories, workshops, archives, libraries, offices, and more, discovering places and people they would not normally have access to.
  • Workshops: These will be held from March 24 to 26, 2026, in the morning and afternoon. Researchers and children will work together on experiments and research projects in the university's rooms and laboratories. Children can be registered individually by their parents through the purchase of a workshop ticket online.

Activities and Events

The program includes a range of activities designed to make science and research accessible and fun for children. These include:

  • Lectures on Various Topics: Such as "How to Become a Law Professor," "Children's Rights," "The Mathematics of Stair Climbing," "Asteroids and Maps: How Mathematicians Saw the World 200 Years Ago," and "Why Humans Want to Go to Mars and How We Can Get There."
  • Workshop Activities: Including a programming workshop for self-driving robots, building an electric motor, exploring the superpowers of languages, and an adventure in algorithms.

Participation and Registration

  • Registration for lectures and discovery tours is possible, with the note that discovery tours are already fully booked.
  • Workshops require individual registration by parents through the online ticket purchase system.

Conclusion

The Bremer Kinder-Uni offers a unique and engaging experience for children, providing them with a firsthand look into the world of science and research. With its variety of lectures, discovery tours, and workshops, the program aims to inspire the next generation of scientists and researchers.
