Course Description

The course introduces students to the field of computer science, covering its sub-areas, key concepts, historical and current research, practical work life, and good scientific practices and professional ethics. Through lectures, discussions, and assignments, students will learn about the basics of computer science, its applications, and the skills required for a career in the field.


Learning Objectives

Upon completing the course, students will be able to:


  • Describe the sub-areas of computer science
  • Explain key concepts in computer science
  • Identify historically significant and current research topics in computer science
  • Recognize the characteristics and requirements of jobs in the computer science field
  • Describe principles of good scientific practice and professional ethics in computer science
  • Find, analyze, question, and organize information related to these topics
  • Discuss and report on these topics in writing, using appropriate citation practices

Course Format

The course will be conducted online, with video lectures, assignments, and discussions. Students will work on tasks and projects based on the provided materials and are expected to participate in online discussions.


Assessment

The course will use digital learning materials, and students are expected to find and use additional resources from the internet. The assessment will be based on the completion of assignments, participation in discussions, and a final project.
