About Program

Program Overview

Mßster de Formaciˇn Permanente en Evaluaciˇn y Diagnˇstico de los Trastornos Mentales con Mayor Prevalencia

Presentaciˇn

The attention to psychological health is a right and a basic health need. Citizens demand and need early psychological attention, not just when their conditions have worsened. The current health crisis has led to an increased demand, and combined with long waiting lists and usual delays in public attention, many people are forced to seek non-specialized care, which results in personal and health costs.

There is a need for more mental health professionals in the healthcare system to respond to immediate demands. Investing in mental health professionals can prevent psychopathologies in the population and lead to short- and medium-term savings for the system. Early attention to psychosomatic illnesses can prevent future diseases.

In recent years, the demand has continued to increase, and with the health crisis, the number of anxiety disorders, depression, and suicides has skyrocketed. Consequently, the consumption of related medications has also increased.

Our society is suffering from several fronts, and we are concerned about the silent increase in anxiety disorders, depression, and self-harm attempts by our fellow citizens.

Research continues to show that unemployment generates higher levels of depression, that the deterioration of social relationships after confinement and the mandatory maintenance of interpersonal distance significantly increase levels of anxiety, depression, and stress, and that pandemic fatigue combined with the climate crisis elevates levels of anxiety, depression, and especially stress.

If we understand this problem politically and academically and take responsibility, we can contain the drama that is happening in the silence of many homes, as well as reduce chronicity, dependencies, absenteeism, family disintegration, and self-harm attempts.

This Master's program aims to provide specialized training that expands and deepens the knowledge of professionals working with people affected by mental disorders. The relevance of the topic is imposed by societal demand.

The program offers an opportunity for open, reflective, and critical educational training, without established dogma. Close and direct communication between teachers and students during the program promotes the analysis of existing documentation, both classic and current, on evaluation and diagnosis, allowing for personal evolution and the integration of sufficient elements to expand horizons towards effective professional practice.
