The Master's Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology is a one-year academic program that provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques of cellular and molecular biology. Presentation
The Master's Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology has been verified by the ACSUCyL and the Council of Universities in 2013 and has been renewed in 2018 and 2024. The program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the principles and techniques of cellular and molecular biology, as well as the ability to design, conduct, and analyze experiments.
Objectives
The main objectives of the program are:
- To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and techniques of cellular and molecular biology
- To equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in research, academia, or industry
- To provide students with the ability to design, conduct, and analyze experiments
- To prepare students for further study in doctoral programs or other advanced degree programs
Competencies
The program is designed to provide students with the following competencies:
- Knowledge of distinct biological mechanisms at the cellular level and in different cellular models
- Ability to design, conduct, and analyze experiments using the scientific method
- Ability to develop skills in searching and managing scientific information using databases
- Ability to carry out detailed analyses of scientific literature related to different aspects of cellular and molecular biology
- Ability to present scientific reports in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing
Profile of Admission
The program is aimed at graduates or university graduates in the biosanitary area (Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, etc.) with a good academic record and previous training in basic aspects of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology.
Admission Criteria
The admission criteria for the program are:
- Adequacy of previous studies to the objectives of the Master's program
- Academic record of the applicant
- Experience in laboratory work
- Additional academic titles
- Knowledge of English (level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
Plan of Studies
The program consists of 60 ECTS credits, distributed in four compulsory subjects (30 ECTS), five optional subjects (15 ECTS), and a final master's project (15 ECTS).
