Master of Ageing, Wellbeing and Sustainability
The Master of Ageing, Wellbeing and Sustainability program is designed to prepare practitioners and professionals involved in the planning and provision of services to aged communities to become a change agent in transforming a society that recognises older people as active contributors for the betterment of themselves and their communities.
Overview
With the aim to facilitate a sustainable milieu for individuals to age successfully, this program adopts a strength-based approach in addressing real-life challenges related to health and wellbeing, housing, transportation, use of technology, civic participation, cultural diversity and social inclusion.
Admission
Applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree (AQF Level 7 or equivalent), in any discipline. Additionally, applicants must also have at least a Graduate Diploma related to Ageing, Health Sciences, Nursing, Social Sciences, Built Environment and Urban or Geography Studies.
Program Structure
The program requires the successful completion of 120 credit points, including six 10-credit point core subjects and a choice of one stream: Professional Stream or Research Stream.
Professional Stream
Students must choose 20 credit points from one area of focus:
- Healthcare Service and Management Focus
- Design and Planning Focus
- Technology in Health Focus
- Society and Cultural Focus
Research Stream
Students must complete a research project in health care and choose two electives.
Subjects
Core subjects include:
- Ageing in Place: Wellbeing and Sustainability
- Supporting Aged Communities
- Health and Socio-political Issues in Aged Care
- Cultural and Social Diversity in Health Care
- Optimising Contribution of Older People
- Leadership and Change
Elective subjects vary depending on the chosen stream and area of focus.
Career Outcomes
Graduates will be able to apply a comprehensive and integrated understanding of ageing in place to deliver outcomes and improve practices for an inclusive, sustainable and age-friendly future.
Early Exits
Students may exit this program on completion of 40 credit points with a Graduate Certificate in Ageing, Wellbeing and Sustainability or on completion of 80 credit points with a Graduate Diploma in Ageing, Wellbeing and Sustainability.

Study Mode
