Program Overview


Master of Child and Family Health (Karitane)

The Master of Child and Family Health (Karitane) is a postgraduate program designed for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives who wish to work autonomously and across various clinical settings with children and families. The program aims to provide students with theoretical knowledge and associated skills to promote optimal health outcomes for children and families.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must:


  • Be a Registered Nurse or Midwife (currently registered to practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency - Nursing and Midwifery) or have eligibility for same.
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree in health-related sciences (AQF Level 7 or equivalent).
  • Have one year of full-time equivalent work experience as a registered nurse or registered midwife within the last five years.

The program requires the successful completion of 120 credit points, including:

Early Exits

Students may exit the program with a Graduate Certificate in Child and Family Health (Karitane) after completing 40 credit points or a Graduate Diploma in Child and Family Health (Karitane) after completing 80 credit points.
