The Department of Systems Engineering at UT Dallas focuses research and curriculum in the fundamentals of systems engineering and management, with applications in interdisciplinary areas of interest to industry. The department offers an MS degree in Systems Engineering and Management, a joint program with the UT Dallas Naveen Jindal School of Management.

Objectives

Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on the design, modeling, interconnection, and management of large complex systems. The field relies on skills and expertise in areas such as optimization, simulation, economics and finance, risk management, and decision making under uncertainty.

Research

The Systems Engineering Department at UT Dallas is committed to interdisciplinary research, led by faculty members with industry experience and innovative research programs. The focus is on the following fields:

• High-precision mechatronic systems with applications in atomic-scale lithography for fabrication of solid-state quantum devices
• Robotic systems and control in a variety of multidisciplinary applications

• Transportation systems management and operation strategies

Program Features

The Systems Engineering and Management MS is a joint program offered by the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science and the Naveen Jindal School of Management. The program features:

• Two program formats: Professional Master's and Traditional Master's
• Flexible choice of core courses in both engineering and management disciplines
• Elective courses for concentrations in various industry sectors
• Qualifying students may enter the program in the spring, summer, or fall semester
• The program may be completed in 18 to 24 months with a typical course load
• Opportunity for pursuing a combined Systems Engineering and Management MS and MBA in a Double Degree Program
