International Agricultural Training VI (EC41163)
Overview
The Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) approach is defined by three pillars:
- Sustainable improvement of agricultural productivity
- Enhancement of resilience and adaptation to climate change
- Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions This training aims to visit production sites of crops and livestock in Taiwan that will be significantly affected by future climate change, and to learn about various countermeasures being devised and implemented.
Objectives
- Visit agricultural production sites and related facilities in central and southern Taiwan
- Attend lectures by teachers from Chung Hsing University in easy-to-understand English
- Deepen understanding of CSA and Taiwanese agriculture
- Present learning outcomes in English and discuss with teachers
- Exchange with students from Chung Hsing University to learn about Taiwanese culture, customs, and history
Eligibility
- Students in their 1st to 3rd year
- 15 participants (minimum of 5 required)
Training Schedule
- February 23, 2026 - March 8, 2026 (14 days)
Application Method
- Attend the guidance session on October 23, 2025, from 18:15 to 19:00 at 2C310
- If unable to attend, email Abe in advance
- Apply for the TWINS course from October 15, 2025
- Access the URL or QR code and submit the following information by November 21, 2025:
- Name, student ID, year, and department
- Language proficiency (test name and score)
- Passport information (country, name in Roman letters, passport number, and expiration date)
- Motivation for participation (write a specific essay)
Selection Criteria
- Clear motivation for participation
- High English language proficiency test scores
- Priority given to students with English proficiency level 2 or higher, study abroad experience, or returnee experience
Travel Expenses
- Participants will be eligible for the University of Tsukuba's overseas study abroad support project (Habatake! Tsukuba)
- Support amount: 60,000 yen per person (no repayment required)
Participation Fees
- Accommodation: approximately 65,000 yen
- Airfare: approximately 75,000 yen
- Food: approximately 28,000 yen
- Transportation: approximately 8,000 yen
- Total: approximately 176,000 yen
Notes
- A pre-departure briefing will be held on February 3, 2026
- Students from departments other than the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences can participate, but priority will be given to students from the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity
- Participation in the entire training program is a condition of application
- Expenses for participation will be borne by the participants themselves
- The "Habatake! Tsukuba" scholarship will be applied for, and participants who are selected will receive a subsidy of up to 60,000 yen
- Cancellation due to personal circumstances will result in the participant bearing the costs incurred
- The use of portraits (photos and videos) and handling of personal information will require a signature on an agreement form at the pre-departure briefing
- In the event of sudden cancellation due to changes in international circumstances, expenses incurred will be borne by the participants themselves
- Air tickets and accommodation will be arranged by the university, and participants must follow the university's instructions and make payments by the deadline
- Participants who do not have a passport must obtain one after confirmation of participation and submit a copy promptly

- A report must be submitted by March 18, 2026
