Program Overview

Introduction to the Science and Technology for Health Care and Medicine Graduate Major

The Science and Technology for Health Care and Medicine graduate major is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the field of science and technology for health care and medicine. The program is structured to support students in their pursuit of becoming globally successful researchers.

Curriculum

The curriculum is divided into structured categories, enabling students to learn specialized knowledge and skills according to their level of learning and achievement. The program builds on the specialized knowledge of various fields acquired in the undergraduate program, allowing students to systematically acquire the specialized knowledge and techniques required for cutting-edge research and development of science and technology for health care and medicine.

Master's Program

The Master's program is a 2-year program that provides students with the opportunity to gain more advanced specialized knowledge and skills based on what they have learned in their undergraduate studies. The program is designed to allow students to deepen their expertise and creativity by conducting their own master's thesis research through research seminars, research-related courses, and the "Research Planning for Master Thesis" course.

Research Seminars and Research-Related Courses

Research seminars and literature review sessions are offered to support students in their master's thesis research. Through these courses, students develop the ability to plan research that is consistent with their objectives. In addition, students are provided opportunities to present and report on their research plans and results, thereby developing their presentation skills.

Common Core Courses

Common core courses provide students with essential foundational knowledge about human science, medical and health sciences, bioethics, and environmental factors affecting human health. These courses also develop an understanding of humanities as well as the language and communication skills necessary to succeed in a global society.

Specialized Courses

The program offers specialized courses in various fields, including:

  • Mechanical Engineering: prepares students to promote innovative, advanced research in mechanical engineering
    • develops leadership and practical skills, enabling students to propose and solve research challenges on societal issues from an international perspective
  • Systems and Control Engineering: develops the ability to objectively analyze both concrete and abstract aspects of nature and society as systems
    • creates systems of value based on this knowledge
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering: offers education and research opportunities in fields critical to our social infrastructure
    • cultivates individuals with strong logical thinking and reasoning skills, a deep understanding of cutting-edge technologies and ideas, and the ability to communicate effectively on a global scale
  • Information and Communications Engineering: covers research and education in information and communication engineering
    • explores both foundational and applied technologies in communications, networks, signal processing, VLSI, and security
  • Materials Science and Engineering: acquires advanced specialized knowledge of materials science, along with logical thinking and practical problem-solving skills
  • Chemical Science and Engineering: fosters independent researchers and engineers in chemistry who understand the basic properties and reactivity of substances at the atomic and molecular levels
  • Computer Science: gains broad expertise in advanced theories and technologies related to information infrastructure, systems, and services essential to modern society
  • Life Science and Technology: acquires advanced knowledge in life science and technology, develops problem-setting and problem-solving skills conducive to the development of the field
  • Innovation Science: fosters individuals who will address the various issues facing modern society with scientific solutions
  • Medical and Dental Science: cultivates broad knowledge and high ethical standards concerning human health and welfare through interdisciplinary collaboration in the life science fields

Doctoral Program

The Doctoral program is a 3-year program that provides students with the latest specialized knowledge in their major research field through research seminars and the "PhD Qualifying Presentation." The program develops a wide range of outstanding professional skills and high ethical standards in the field of science and technology for health care and medicine.

Research Seminars

Seminars and thesis readings are conducted in accordance with doctoral thesis research to cultivate the ability to define research objectives and formulate a research plan. In addition, students are provided opportunities to present and report on their research plans and results, thereby developing their presentation skills.

Core Courses

Core courses provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in areas such as human science, medical and health sciences, bioethics, and the human environment. These courses also cultivate leadership, liberal arts, language, and communication skills, preparing students to be internationally competitive individuals.

Medical and Dental Sciences

Medical and dental sciences courses are based on systematic courses that integrate multiple fields of medicine, life science and technology, dentistry, and health sciences. These courses cultivate broad knowledge and high ethical standards concerning human health and welfare through interdisciplinary collaboration in the life science fields.

Completion and Career Paths

Upon completion of the program, students can pursue various career paths, including research and development, academia, industry, and government. The program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become leaders in their field and make significant contributions to the advancement of science and technology for health care and medicine.
