Introduction to the Bachelor's Program in Business Administration

The Bachelor's program in Business Administration at the University of Bremen is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in business administration, emphasizing methodological competence and practical application. The program is structured to meet the demands of both students and employers, offering a strong foundation in business administration and the opportunity to specialize in various areas.

Program Structure

The Bachelor's program in Business Administration has a standard duration of six semesters and concludes with the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). The first two semesters cover the fundamental principles of business administration and economics, allowing students to switch between the Business Administration and Economics programs until the third semester.

Areas of Study

The program is divided into seven areas:

  1. Business Administration: Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and International Business.
  2. Economics: Microeconomics and Macroeconomics.
  3. Data Literacy: Mathematics, Data Analysis, Statistics, Data Management, and Empirical Research.
  4. Specialization:
    • Finances, Accounting, and Taxes
    • Marketing
    • General Management and Logistics
  5. General Studies (Required): WiWi Onboarding Challenge, Law, Project Management, Sustainable Management.
  6. General Studies (Elective)
  7. Final Module: Bachelor's Thesis.

Specialization

From the fourth semester onwards, students choose one of three specializations:

  • Finances, Accounting, and Taxes: This specialization delves into the financial, accounting, and tax aspects of businesses and companies, including financial markets and corporate finance.
  • Marketing: Focuses on marketing concepts and methods for market-oriented business management, including strategic marketing, brand management, customer management, e-commerce, and international marketing.
  • General Management and Logistics: Prepares students for leadership roles in general management, human resources, and logistics, covering areas such as digitalization, founding, international management, personnel, and organization, as well as supply chain management and logistics.

Practical Experience

A practical internship is an integral part of the Business Administration program and can be recognized within the "Free Choice" area with 12 CP. The internship must have a minimum duration of eight weeks and can be started after the second semester. The University's Career Center and the Department of Practice and Transfer support students in finding internship positions.

Study Abroad

While not mandatory, a study abroad semester is highly recommended. It can be best integrated into the third year of study due to the flexibility provided by the specialization choices. Detailed information on studying abroad can be found on the department's website under the "International" section.

Learning Management System

The University of Bremen uses the Stud.IP learning management system to support teaching and learning. Students can access course materials, announcements, and discussion forums, and manage their schedules through this platform.
