Application Guidelines for Doctoral Program (Medical and Health Sciences/Four-year)
Overview
The Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences is a four-year program designed for individuals who have completed a master's degree or have equivalent academic abilities. The program aims to foster advanced research skills and expertise in medical sciences.
Eligibility for Application
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Individuals who have graduated or expect to graduate from a university (courses in medicine or dentistry, or 6-year courses in veterinary medicine or pharmacy) by March 2026
- Individuals who have completed or expect to complete a 18-year school education curriculum in a foreign country by March 2026
- Individuals who have graduated or expect to graduate from a postgraduate master's course by March 2026
- Individuals who have been recognized by the University of Tsukuba Graduate School through the eligibility screening to have academic ability equivalent or superior to a university graduate and will be 24 years of age or older in March 2026
Application Procedure
- Obtaining Consent from Faculty Members: Before applying, applicants must contact a faculty member and obtain consent to become their prospective supervisor.
- Web Entry System: Applicants must submit their application through the Web Entry system.
- Submission of Documents: Required documents include:
- (Expected) Graduation/Completion Certificate
- Degree Certificate (for applicants who graduated from a foreign university)
- Academic Transcript
- Research Plan
- Research/Specialty Report
- Letter of Approval for Taking the Entrance Examination (if applicable)
- Receipt Portion (Certificate of Payment) of Examination Fee Statement (if paid at a convenience store)
- Copy of "Application Completed" Page of Examination Fee Payment by Credit Card (if paid by credit card)
Examination Fee
The examination fee is 30,000 Japanese Yen, except for government-sponsored foreign students.
Selection Process
Applicants are selected through a comprehensive assessment of their submitted documents and results of the examination.
Enrollment Procedure
Successful applicants will receive information on admission procedures via email. Applicants with a job must submit a document issued by their supervisors as well.
Tuition Fees
- Admission fee: 282,000 Japanese Yen (non-refundable)
- Tuition fees: 535,800 Japanese Yen per year (subject to change)
Register Extending System
The Register Extending System is available for the Doctoral Program in Medical Sciences, allowing students to complete the program over a certain period exceeding the original duration of study.
