Program Overview

The University of Bremen offers a comprehensive program in Gesundheitsökonomie II (Health Economics II), which is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge of health economics concepts and methods, as well as their application to the German healthcare system.


Module Description

The module "Gesundheitsökonomie II" builds on the foundation established in "Gesundheitsökonomie I" and delves into advanced topics, including:

Upon completion of this module, students will be able to:


  • Describe the financing flows in the German healthcare system
  • Evaluate recent financing reforms using economic theories
  • Explain the basic concepts of competition and risk structure compensation in the healthcare system
  • Discuss the need for reform in risk structure compensation
  • Determine the basic principles of remuneration in the ambulatory and stationary sectors
  • Normatively assess reform options for remuneration

Target Group

  • Recommended: Prior completion of the "Gesundheitsökonomie I" module, which takes place in the winter semester
