The University of Bremen offers a comprehensive program in Gesundheitsökonomie II (Health Economics II), which is designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge of health economics concepts and methods, as well as their application to the German healthcare system.

Module Description

The module "Gesundheitsökonomie II" builds on the foundation established in "Gesundheitsökonomie I" and delves into advanced topics, including:

• Wettbewerb und Risikostrukturausgleich (Competition and Risk Structure Compensation)
• Vergütung von Leistungserbringern (Remuneration of Service Providers)

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this module, students will be able to:

• Describe the financing flows in the German healthcare system
• Evaluate recent financing reforms using economic theories
• Explain the basic concepts of competition and risk structure compensation in the healthcare system
• Discuss the need for reform in risk structure compensation
• Determine the basic principles of remuneration in the ambulatory and stationary sectors
• Normatively assess reform options for remuneration

Target Group

This module is designed for (future) employees in healthcare companies who wish to acquire basic knowledge of health economics to qualify for leadership positions in the healthcare sector.

Admission Requirements

• University Entrance Qualification: According to the regulations of the University of Bremen
• Recommended: Prior completion of the "Gesundheitsökonomie I" module, which takes place in the winter semester

Scope

• Duration: 1 semester
• Workload: 56 hours of attendance, plus 124 hours of individual self-study (equivalent to 6 CP)

Exams and Certification

• Exam: Electronic exam on the contents of the lecture
• Certificate: Module certificate

Participation Fee

• Fee: 450 Euro (equivalent to 75 Euro per CP)
• Discount: 5% discount for members of the University of Bremen's alumni association
