Module Details
Database Fundamentals and Modeling
Learning Outcomes
- Handle relational databases, including understanding and formulating elementary relational database schemas and data manipulation instructions.
- Know the structure of database queries and be able to formulate common queries independently.
- Create UML diagrams for static aspects (class diagrams) and dynamic aspects (activity, state, and sequence diagrams).
- Transform UML models into relational database schemas, recognizing and utilizing key and foreign key relationships.
- Understand basic ideas and concepts of relational design (dependencies between attributes, keys, key candidates, normal forms, quality criteria).

- Wednesday: 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., weekly.
- Thursday: 12:00 - 2:00 p.m., weekly.
- Thursday: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., weekly.
Exams & Completion
Exam:

Scope
Duration: 1 semester. Workload: 56 hours of attendance events + 124 hours of guided self-study (equivalent to 6 CP).
Participation Fee
450 euros (equivalent to 75 euros per CP). Members of the Alumni Association of the University of Bremen receive a 5% discount.
