The University of Tsukuba Hospital offers a comprehensive clinical education program, including a dental and oral surgery course.

Program Objectives

The program aims to provide residents with a comprehensive education in dental and oral surgery, including:

• Diagnosis and treatment of various oral and maxillofacial diseases and conditions
• Development of surgical skills in oral and maxillofacial surgery
• Understanding of the principles of patient care and management

Program Curriculum

The program curriculum includes:

• 1.6 years of clinical experience in various aspects of dental and oral surgery, including:
  • Diagnosis and treatment of oral and maxillofacial diseases and conditions
  • Surgical procedures, such as tooth extraction, implant placement, and oral and maxillofacial surgery
• Main diseases and conditions to be experienced during the 1.6-year period, including:
  • Dental caries
  • Pulpitis
  • Periodontal disease
  • Oral cancer
  • Benign tumors
  • Trauma
• Main diagnostic and examination methods to be learned, including:
  • Clinical examination
  • Radiographic examination
  • Histopathological examination
  • Laboratory tests
• Main treatment methods to be learned, including:
  • Surgical procedures
  • Non-surgical procedures
  • Medications

Resident Classification

Residents are classified into three categories:

• Chief Resident (C1, C2)
• Senior Resident (S1, S2)
• Junior Resident (J1, J2)

Program Requirements

The program requires residents to:

• Complete a series of clinical rotations and training sessions
• Participate in seminars, lectures, and workshops
• Conduct research and present findings
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of patient care and management
