Program Overview


Introduction to the International Exchange Program

The International Exchange Program is a research-based program designed for graduate students enrolled in the School of Engineering, School of Materials and Chemical Technology, and School of Environment and Society at Tokyo Institute of Technology. The program aims to provide students with the opportunity to conduct research in a global environment, deepen their understanding of diversity, and build a global network.


Eligibility

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Be enrolled in a master's or doctoral program at the School of Engineering, School of Materials and Chemical Technology, or School of Environment and Society.
  • Have a grade point average of 2.30 or higher in the previous academic year.
  • Possess a TOEFL (iBT) score of 70 or higher, or a TOEIC score of 650 or higher.
  • Meet the admission requirements of the host university.

Host Universities

The program has partnerships with several universities worldwide, including:


  • SERP (C1) universities: University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of Warwick, Sorbonne University, École Polytechnique, RWTH Aachen University, Madrid Polytechnic University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Karlstad University, University of the Basque Country, University of Rome Tor Vergata, and Politecnico di Torino.
  • AOTULE (C2-a) universities: University of Melbourne, Tsinghua University, National Taiwan University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, University of Malaya, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Nanyang Technological University, Chulalongkorn University, and University of Moratuwa.
  • AOSU (C2-b) universities: Wuhan University of Technology, National Cheng Kung University, Thammasat University, Singapore University of Technology and Design, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Chiang Mai University.
  • Inter-college exchange programs (C3-a): Universities with inter-college agreements with the three colleges.
  • University-wide exchange programs (C3-b): Universities with university-wide agreements.

Program Duration

The program duration is approximately three months, with the following start dates:


  • June to November (first recruitment)
  • December to May (second recruitment)

Application Procedure

To apply for the program, students must submit the following documents:


  • Application form
  • Recommendation letter
  • English language proficiency certificate (TOEFL or TOEIC score)
  • Academic transcript
  • Reason for application (if applicable)
  • Letter of acceptance from the host university (if applicable)

Selection Process

The selection process consists of a document screening and an interview.


Scholarship

The program offers scholarships to successful applicants, including the "Student International Exchange Fund" provided by the three colleges and the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).


Deadline

The application deadline is December 5, 2025, at noon.
