Program Overview
Erasmus+ Program
The Erasmus+ program is a European Union higher education initiative that promotes cross-border mobility of students, university lecturers, and staff in Europe. The program has been in operation since 1987 and includes the 28 EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Turkey.
Participating Countries
The following European countries are participating in Erasmus+:
- Czech Republic
- Italy
- Poland
- Sweden
- Spain
- Turkey
Institutional Erasmus+ Coordinator
The Institutional Erasmus+ Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the program at the university level.
Erasmus+ Coordinator for Physics and Astronomy
The Erasmus+ Coordinator for Physics and Astronomy is Prof. Dr. Carsten Beta.
Application Process
To apply for the Erasmus+ program, students must follow these steps:
- Find out about the range of exchange places available at the Institute of Physics.
- Contact the International Office or the Institute Coordinator for information on the Erasmus program.
- Apply for an exchange place by January 10th.
- Once accepted, confirm acceptance of the place and register at the International Office.
- Prepare a study plan on the Learning Agreement before mobility and have it confirmed by the institute coordinator.
Applications
Applications must be submitted via the MoveOn portal and include:
- Erasmus+ Application Form
- Statement on motivation and goals of the stay abroad in English
- Curriculum vitae in tabular form
- Grades on completed achievements
- Proof of appropriate language skills
Non-Subject-Related Applications
Applications from non-subject students are possible, but the final decision on admission is made by the host university.
Remaining Seats
Information on available places can be obtained from the International Office from April to the end of April. The allocation of remaining places is done via the respective responsible institute at the University of Potsdam.

Note
Switzerland is not an Erasmus+ program country, but students of the University of Potsdam can still study at Swiss partner universities without receiving the mobility grant from their home university.
