Digital Health Master's Program

The Digital Health Master's program is an interdisciplinary program that combines IT systems engineering, data engineering, medical basics, and an understanding of healthcare systems.

Program Content

The program covers fundamental concepts and methods of IT systems engineering, data engineering, medical basics, and healthcare systems. It also includes interdisciplinary and key skills (professional skills) for successfully leading large, networked IT projects.

Program Goals and Career Prospects

The interdisciplinary Digital Health Master's program prepares students to work as highly qualified experts in the health sector at the interface between IT, computer science, and medicine. Graduates can work as leaders in research or industry with an application focus on the health sector, including health economics and healthcare.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Digital Health Master's program, applicants must have a first academic degree (e.g., Bachelor's degree) in a relevant field such as IT systems engineering, computer science, bioinformatics, medicine, or medical science. They must also have basic knowledge in IT and programming languages (at least 12 credit points) and knowledge in data science, machine learning, statistical concepts, and models (at least 12 credit points). English language proficiency at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is also required.

Program Structure

The Master's degree in Digital Health can be completed in four semesters at the joint Digital Engineering Faculty of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) and the University of Potsdam (UP). Students acquire skills to analyze, design, and implement complex and secure IT systems and infrastructures in healthcare. They also deal with ethical issues and legal frameworks relevant to the design of healthcare systems.
