Program Overview
The doctoral program in Information Science and Technology aims to cultivate individuals with advanced knowledge and research skills in the field. The program covers a wide range of topics, from fundamental technologies such as computing, networking, and security to applied technologies like web applications, user interfaces, and speech and image recognition.
Program Objectives
The program seeks to equip students with specialized knowledge and research abilities in areas like mathematical information science, intelligent software, software systems, computer engineering, media engineering, and intelligent information science. Additionally, the program aims to provide students with a broad foundation in engineering and ethics, as well as the ability to discover and solve problems from a wide range of perspectives.
Curriculum
The program consists of required and specialized courses. The required courses include research activities under the guidance of a supervisor, as well as surveys of related fields. These courses aim to develop skills in knowledge utilization, management, communication, teamwork, and engineering fundamentals.
Specialized Courses
- Research Seminar: Students will present and discuss their research in English to develop communication, internationalization, and presentation skills.
- Research Internship I/II: Students will conduct research activities at other universities or research institutions to develop management, communication, leadership, and internationalization skills.
- Interdisciplinary Research Internship I/II: Students will conduct research activities in engineering laboratories to develop communication, specialization, and presentation skills.
Completion Requirements
To complete the program, students must:
- Be enrolled for at least three years
- Complete the required courses and earn the specified number of credits
- Receive research guidance and pass the doctoral dissertation examination and final examination
However, students with outstanding research achievements may be eligible for completion in one year (or three years, including the master's program).
Course Completion Methods
Students must complete at least 10 credits, including:
- Information Science and Technology Special Research (8 credits)
- Information Science and Technology Special Exercise A (2 credits or more)
