Program Details

Introduction

The Cooperative Summer Program with the University of California, Berkeley, is a 3-12 week summer session program where students can participate in classes at the University of California, Berkeley. The program provides support for procedures and credit recognition.

Eligibility

English language proficiency test scores are required. The level requirements can be found in the program's guidelines.

The University of California, Berkeley.

Duration

The program offers several sessions:

1. Session A: May 28, 2026 - July 2, 2026 (6 weeks)
2. Session B: June 8, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (10 weeks)
3. Session C: June 22, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (8 weeks)
4. Session D: July 6, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (6 weeks)
5. Session E: July 27, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (3 weeks)
6. Session F: July 6, 2026 - July 24, 2026 (3 weeks)
7. Session 12W: May 26, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (12 weeks)

Application Guidelines

Application guidelines are available, and an application form must be submitted.

Information Session

An information session was held on January 14, 2026, via Zoom.

Credits

Students in the science and engineering fields can earn credits for "International Experience Practice" and other courses.

Fees

• Tuition: USD 635 per unit
• Application fee: USD 585
• International Service Fee: USD 500
• Document Management Fee: USD 73

Scholarships

For students with Japanese nationality or permanent residence:

1. A travel support grant of JPY 110,000 from the Science Tokyo Fund.
2. Students who meet the academic requirements can receive a JASSO treaty- dispatched scholarship of JPY 110,000 per month. For students without Japanese nationality or permanent residence: Students who meet the academic requirements can receive a monthly scholarship of JPY 110,000 from the Science Tokyo Fund.

Apply through the University of California, Berkeley's website, and then submit an application to the International Education Office.

Selection Method

Document screening.

Deadline

The deadline for application to the home university is:

• March 9, 2026, for programs starting in May
• April 7, 2026, for programs starting in June
• May 7, 2026, for programs starting in July

The deadline for application to the host university varies depending on the number of units to be taken and the need for a student visa (F-1 visa).
