Introduction to the Joint Program
The University of Texas at Dallas offers an innovative biomedical engineering program in collaboration with UT Southwestern Medical Center. Degree Requirements
To obtain a joint degree from both The University of Texas at Dallas and UT Southwestern Medical Center, students must complete a minimum of one-third of the UT Southwestern biomedical engineering credit hours. This amounts to 25 credit hours for the PhD program and 11 credit hours for the MS program. These requirements can be fulfilled through research credits or organized coursework provided by UT Southwestern.
Enrollment and Credit Hours
International students are permitted to enroll in a maximum of four credit hours at UTSW during a long semester, while domestic students can take up to eight credit hours. Additionally, all students must be registered for at least one credit hour at UTD in each semester they are concurrently enrolled.
