Program Overview
RPI Game Development Camp
The RPI Game Development Camp is a program designed for middle and high schoolers, aged 12-18, to introduce them to the world of game design.
Program Details
- The camp will take place from July 6-10, from 9am to 5pm.
- The price for the camp is $850.
- Participants will have the opportunity to learn from real industry professionals and create their own game from start to finish using Unreal Engine 5, the industry standard software used to make games like Fortnite, Marvel Rivals, and Black Myth: Wukong.
- The camp will utilize RPI's state-of-the-art computing facilities, and lunch and snacks will be provided.
Curriculum
- The camp is designed to give students their first introduction to the world of game design, covering the basics in Unreal, as well as audio, design, and art software.
- Older students with a foundation in the fundamentals of game design will receive advanced instruction on the tougher technical aspects of their projects, such as AI, networking, and art pipelines.
- Faculty workshops, guest lectures, and tutoring will be available for more experienced game developers.
- The program will touch on all aspects of game development, including design, art, programming, sound, narrative, and marketing.
- Participants will benefit from working with faculty from studios like Square Enix, Blizzard, and more.
Outcome
- Every participant will finish the week with a completed game, regardless of their level of experience.
