Camp Wildcat
Camp Wildcat is a summer camp program for children entering grades 1-7. The program is structured into eight single-week sessions, and participants can enroll in one or all of the sessions.
- The camp day starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:15 p.m.
- Drop-off begins at 8:15-8:45 a.m. and pick-up is from 4:15-4:30 p.m.
- Complimentary care is provided from 8-8:15 a.m. and from 4:30-4:45 p.m.
- An additional fee of $2 per minute will be added to the account for late pick-ups.
- Group swim lessons are available as an extended care option from 4:45-5:30 p.m.
- The maximum enrollment for extended care swim lessons is 40 campers per session.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What does camp look like?: Camp Wildcat is structured into eight single-week sessions. Participants can enroll in one or all of the sessions. The camp does not include field trips to sites outside of UNH.
- What precautions will be taken this year?: Campers will be grouped into pods of approximately 10 campers and 1-2 counselors based on age. Large group gatherings will take place during free play and morning announcements, mealtimes, pool time, and assembly-style activities.
- What is a typical day at camp?: A typical day at camp includes sports, arts & crafts, free swim, hobbies, and adventure activities. Campers are required to provide their own lunch. Snacks will be provided, but campers should also pack additional snacks.
- How long is Camp Wildcat?: Camp Wildcat is an eight-week program.
- How do I know what swim level my child is?: The swim level of a child can be determined by viewing a specific document.
- What if my camper cannot swim?: All campers must pass a swim test at the UNH Outdoor pool. If a camper is unable to pass the swim test, they will be required to wear a coastguard-approved PFD.
- Does Camp Wildcat offer scholarships for families?: Camp Wildcat does not have a scholarship program, but it offers three free sessions through the Oyster River School District. A 10% discount is also available for military families.
- Who works at Camp Wildcat?: The camp employs a diverse group of counselors with extensive experience working with children. Counselors are UNH undergraduate students majoring in education, early childhood, social work, and other related areas of study.
- Can Camp Wildcat accommodate my child?: The university seeks to create a welcoming and inclusive youth program experience for all participants. Reasonable accommodations may be requested to support participation of individuals with disabilities.
