Geral

The Master's in Textile Engineering (MET) aims to complement the skills of graduates in the design, development, and production of textile products. Organized into two areas of specialization, Advanced Materials and Technologies and Functional Materials and Finishes, the program's objectives include deepening specific competencies and mastering emerging domains in Textile Science and Technology.

The curriculum is flexible and multidisciplinary, incorporating a set of optional curricular units that include conceptual, specific, and transversal knowledge areas. This allows students to acquire advanced knowledge and develop their capabilities with motivation, providing a response to companies, especially in the textile sector, promoting innovation and development.

Resultados de aprendizagem

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate a deep understanding of textile science and engineering, as well as design.
2. Conceive and implement textile projects, leveraging available technology.
3. Generate and deepen innovative technical and functional solutions, considering design aspects and market specificities.
4. Analyze, interpret, evaluate, and integrate the performance results of developed products.
5. Plan scientific and technological research methods in engineering new products and processes for the textile and apparel industry.

Saídas profissionais

The primary employment sector for graduates is the textile and apparel industry, including conventional textiles (e.g., home and decoration textiles, fashion articles) and technical textiles (e.g., ropes, airbag and tire fabrics, geotextiles, composite material reinforcement, protective clothing, hygiene products). Graduates can also be inserted into complementary areas such as distribution, manufacturers/representatives of textile machines, fibers, dyes, and auxiliary products, consulting, research and development, laboratories, training, and research.

Critérios de Ingresso

Candidates for the Master's in Textile Engineering can be: a) Holders of a degree in Textile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, or other related areas, Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry), or other areas that guarantee a considered adequate base preparation by the Directive Commission. b) Holders of a foreign academic degree conferred after a 1st cycle of studies, according to the Bologna principles, by a state adhering to this process, in the mentioned knowledge areas. c) Holders of a foreign academic degree recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Engineering as satisfying the objectives of the degree of licentiate, in the mentioned knowledge areas. d) Holders of a school, scientific, or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Engineering as attesting to the capacity for the realization of this cycle of studies.

Plano de Estudos

The study plan includes a range of compulsory and optional units, spread over two years, totaling 120 ECTS. The first year includes units such as Engineering and Development of New Products, Project in Textile Engineering I, Sustainability and Circular Economy in the Textile and Apparel Industry, among others. The second year focuses on more specialized topics, including Project in Textile Engineering II, Technologies and Emerging Products, and a dissertation.
