The Licenciatura em Artes Visuais presents itself as an innovative proposal for integrating various languages and techniques of Contemporary Art, offering a structured and diversified education that allows students a high degree of autonomy in their vocational choices. Benefiting from the twenty years of excellence of the EAAD in teaching Architecture, Design, and Drawing, it now provides the first cycle in Visual Arts, thus completing the training space in the area of Creativity and aesthetic and formal creation.

Program Structure

The Licenciatura em Artes Visuais is structured over 6 semesters and offers 25 vacancies. It is located in the Garagem Avenida, on the Campus de Couros, in Guimarães, a building rehabilitated especially considering the needs of the various artistic activities. The study plan includes the various practices of Painting, Sculpture, and Multimedia, with an emphasis on the teaching of Drawing, Artistic Technologies, Art Theory, and multidisciplinary contemporary art experiences.

Educational Approach

Throughout the course, the student is expected to have contact with several artistic experiences, gradually defining their choices in a growing process of autonomy. Despite the diversity of experiences and subjects, each semester is guided by a transversal key concept to the different practices, ensuring conceptual unity at each moment of training.

To consolidate the scientific and artistic project of the course, the different workshop and laboratory spaces offer students the possibility of developing their work in an open and autonomous regime. In addition to the workshop spaces, there are exhibition spaces and cultural dynamization, providing the school with the possibility of cultural exchange with the community.
