Introduction to the L.P.N./L.P.T.N. to B.S.N. Option
The Eleanor Mann School of Nursing at the University of Arkansas offers a unique opportunity for Licensed Practical Nurses (L.P.N.) to enhance their academic experience and provide care to a diverse patient population. The pre-nursing option for L.P.N. provides an online platform for completing the required state minimum core and nursing program prerequisites for admission to the school of nursing.
Program Admission Policies
To be admitted to the L.P.N. to B.S.N. program, students must successfully complete all general education requirements, which include:
- State minimum core and Pre-Program prerequisites (51 hours)
- English:
- ENGL 10103: Composition I (ACTS Equivalency = ENGL 1013) - 3 hours
- ENGL 10203: Composition II (ACTS Equivalency = ENGL 1023) - 3 hours
- Mathematics:
- MATH 11003: College Algebra (ACTS Equivalency = MATH 1103) - 3 hours
- Sciences with labs:
- Chemistry (4 hours)
- Anatomy (4 hours)
- Physiology (4 hours)
- Microbiology (4 hours)
- Fine Arts - 3 hours
- Humanities - 3 hours
- American History/American Government (choose one) - 3 hours
- HIST 20003: History of the American People to 1877 (ACTS Equivalency = HIST 2113)
- HIST 20103: History of the American People, 1877 to Present (ACTS Equivalency = HIST 2123)
- PLSC 20003: American National Government (ACTS Equivalency = PLSC 2003)
- Social Sciences - 9 hours
- Electives - 8 hours

Admission Requirements
Upon completing the above courses, the academic adviser will initiate a review for program admission eligibility in conjunction with the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing. All program and university core prerequisites must have a C grade or above to be eligible for L.P.N. to B.S.N. program (NURBS-LNBN) admission. The cumulative pre-requisite GPA calculated must be 2.5 or above to enter the NURBS-LNBN program. Admission to the University of Arkansas does not guarantee admission to the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing.
