Global Internship/Cooperative Program
Program Overview
University Program Overview
The University of Arkansas has established a Global Internship/Cooperative Program in partnership with Walmart International. This initiative provides students with an experience similar to Study Abroad, where they gain work experience and develop a broader understanding of engineering capacity.
Program Details
The program enables students to gain international experiences through a range of study abroad programs. A group of four Industrial Engineering students participated in an international senior design project in Mexico City, where they applied learnings from their coursework to a global project and gained professional experience.
Project Scope
The project scope was to help define routines and standard operating procedures for job roles in Sam's Club stores in Mexico. The students had the opportunity to apply their knowledge and learnings to deliver value to the organization while gaining insight into the international operations of the world's largest retailer.
Participant Experience
The students created a video to share their experience in Mexico, which includes a short introduction on the project followed by a picture slideshow. This experience is invaluable and is becoming increasingly important to employers and universities across the country.
