Program Overview

The Diploma of Technology in Underwater Vehicles is a three-year program offered by the Marine Institute's School of Ocean Technology. The program provides students with a solid grounding in electronics, mechanical technology, and workplace safety, with a focus on operating, maintaining, and repairing Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the program requires:


  • Adherence to the Application and Admission Regulations
  • Proof of physical fitness through the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Offshore Medical
  • Strong math and science skills
  • Completion of requirements for both the diploma and the degree to receive any one of the credentials

Program Structure

The program includes a combination of instruction, hands-on learning, simulation, and workplace training. Students can choose to exit the program after two years with a Technician Diploma in Remotely Operated Vehicles.
