Environmental Health & Safety Program
The Environmental Health & Safety program at Memorial University is designed to provide students with an understanding of confined spaces and the ability to recognize hazards associated with working in a confined space environment.
Course Description
This course is designed to meet the Confined Space Training Standard for WorkplaceNL for the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The program consists of classroom discussion and demonstration, practical training, and trainee evaluation and certification, giving all employees the fundamental information to protect themselves from injury associated with confined space hazards.

Course Details
- Course Duration: 16 hours
- Course Includes: Certification on behalf of the WorkplaceNL Recertification is required after 3 years
Target Audience
This course is intended for any Memorial University employee who, as part of their job requirements, is required to or has the potential to work in a confined space. Supervisors who direct the work of employees that conduct work in confined spaces are also required to complete confined space training.
