Global Seal of Biliteracy at Mississippi State University

The Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures (CMLL) at Mississippi State University is proud to partner with the Global Seal of Biliteracy to offer this language credentialing program to students, faculty, and the community.

What is the Global Seal of Biliteracy?

The Global Seal of Biliteracy is a free international certificate that officially documents and recognizes a person's ability to communicate in two or more languages. To earn the certificate, individuals must demonstrate their language skills through approved testing. This credential is stackable, portable, and verifiable, and can be added to a curriculum vitae, resumť, or LinkedIn profile to show employers and schools verified language skills.

How Do You Get the Global Seal of Biliteracy?

To obtain the Global Seal of Biliteracy, individuals must:

  • Take the appropriate STAMP test
  • Achieve a qualifying score:
    • For a Functional Fluency Seal (Intermediate-Mid), a score of 5 or higher is required on all test sections
    • For a Working Fluency Seal (Advanced-Low), a score of 7 or higher is required on all test sections
  • The Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures will apply for the Global Seal of Biliteracy on behalf of the individual
  • The personalized Global Seal of Biliteracy and unique serial-numbered credential will be delivered and distributed by the Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures on the MSU Starkville campus

Benefits of the Global Seal of Biliteracy

The Global Seal of Biliteracy can help recipients qualify for higher pay, university credit, or advanced placement in academic programs. It is a recognized credential that can be used to demonstrate language proficiency to employers and academic institutions.
